Does it only run on Word?
Yes, unfortunately Word Add-Ins only work with Microsoft Word (version 2007 and above). We could potentially support Word 2003 but Microsoft is in the process of killing it off so we are not sure it’s worth it!
Can it save me time with writing technical specifications and documentation?
Why, yes it can! Time consuming and tediously repetitive operations like listing out database fields, displaying directory structures and documenting assembly interfaces can all be done in a matter of seconds.
Who is going to use Spec Assistant?
Well, anyone with an interest in software or web design really. If you write or have to document technical stuff then Spec Assistant will save you ginormous amount of time.
What databases can it connect to?
It should connect to pretty much anything through ODBC but we have specific providers for SQL Server, Access and Oracle.
Does it only do .NET reflection?
Yes, we considered offering support for Java, PHP and C++ but were unsure how many people would use it. If other languages would be useful to you then please post in our wishlist section and if there is enough demand we will add it in.
Does it connect to Google in real-time for my analytics information?
Yes it does. Spec Assistant connects to Google using your credentials and gets whatever Google gives us. It is as up-to-date Google make it.
Spec Assistant is a great product but doesn’t quite do what we want it to. Can you help?
One of the big unknown’s when designing software is whether anyone is actually going to use it. There are lots of things we thought about adding but never did, as we did not know if anyone would use it. Go to our forum and ask for it - and if there are other people out there demanding the same then it will get added in our next release.
